We recently caught wind of the incredible hotel planned for South Williamsburg that will not only redefine the area, but change how we perceive green architecture. At first glance, the designs are truly spectacular. Oppenheimer Architecture + Design won the opportunity to create a building that captures the essence of the raw, edgy neighborhood, and consequently based its structure on the Williamsburg Bridge. Three towers exaggerate the traditional New York skyscraper standards, for the tallest of the three will be 440′ high but only 16′ deep. Together, the three fuse together to provide a clean smooth face and endless views of the Manhattan skyline.

The most exciting part about this building is how, despite its grandeur, it maintains excellent environmental standards. With geothermal, wind and solar power generations, and resource saving strategies, this building will be honored with a Platinum-rated LEED award, only acheived by few (including an arboretum in Pennsylvania).
South Williamsburg has yet to see anything close to this before, yet the want for a hotel in the area, one of few announced in the past year, is a true testament to the growth and diversity that’s transformed the area. We’re looking forward to this building’s completion and couldn’t think of a better addition to such a soulful community.
