Ending Fashion Week with Bruises

Ever hear the idea that a beautiful house can give the impression of a wonderful home? Louis Vuitton’s S/S 12 runway at Paris Fashion Week does just that. The gorgeous stage is the epitome of beauty, luxury, and nostalgia: a white carousel with dozens of pristine, majestic horses, set under rows upon rows of lights. The clothes? Like the carousel, feminine and whimsical, at first glance.

But by taking a closer look, not everything is as wistful as it seems. The models sported bruised, sickly legs, and the collection has some really strong lines, with broad silhouettes, stately shoulders, and sharp, silver tipped shoes.

Translation? Life isn’t a carousel? Beauty is a chore? It’s tough to stay feminine? Regardless of what you believe, this show is definitely more than it seems, regardless of what the press has said. One thing they’ve gotten right for sure is that Marc Jacobs indeed knows how to please a crowd.
