I can’t be any more excited for winter. Although it’s a bit brutal in the city, winter landscapes hold a tranquility and peacefulness that no other season can. Unfortunately, unless we brave our way to Central Park, it’s hard to capture that winter wonderland in such an urban setting.
That’s why the work of ceramist Beatrice Bruneteau caught my eye. Under the name Brune, she creates beautiful pottery, tea pots and sculptures that harness the stark beauty in nature. These branches are my favorite; they showcase a tree that’s so hardy and resilient through a medium so delicate and fragile. Her rocky vases are another treat. Together they’d make a beautiful wintry centerpiece.
As her collection is the perfect blend of nature, function, and design, it’s no surprise that Bruneteau is a trained architect. Her work, along with dozens of other talented artists, was featured in Maison et Objet last week, and I’m sure this is the first of many times we’ll see her work featured in the home/design community.
