Swooning for Swinton

Tilda Swinton is one of my favorite celebrities. Kooky, interesting, and a brilliant  actor, she’s used her magnetic presence to skew the edges of style and fashion. Nothing is a truer testament than the latest issue of W Magazine. In their Planet Tilda editorial, they take a fascinating look at her style inspiration and her career, particularly her upcoming movie We Need To Talk About Kevin.

Her beauty lies in her words, too. I stumbled across this wonderful speech she gave in 2006 about the future of the film industry.

“Can I be alone in my longing for inarticulacy, for a cinema that refuses to join all the dots? For an arrhythmia in gesture, for a dissonance in shape? For the context of cinematic frame, a frame that in the end only cinema can provide, for the full view, the long shot, the space between, the gaps, the pause, the lull, the grace of living.”

Moving, thought-provoking and powerful, this woman never ceases to inspire.
