New York City is known to be the grounds for fashion and grandeur, yet only recently as the hub for technological innovation. Now, fashion designers are moving from the catwalk to the skyline to promote their work, using 3D and 4D projection mapping techniques to showcase their work on the sides of buildings. Ralph Lauren stole the show with their incredible display on their flagship building in London, and in NYC, and last weekend, Alexander Wang’s Fall 2011 ready-to-wear promo video was plastered on buildings throughout Soho, the Meatpacking District, and the Upper West Side. Through installations like these, designers can bring their creativity to more than just the streets.
