Sunday Brunch in London

This Sunday brought myself and a friend to The Clerkenwell, a charming little restaurant in the Lower East Side. Inspired by the first gastro pub in Clerkenwell, England, The Clerkenwell offered an easy-going, laid back atmosphere with cute British touches, making the experience feel like a lazy brunch in London. The brunch options includes all the standards: French Toast, Eggs Benedict, and Omelettes, but also some cheeky entrees like Eggs and Soldiers and Toad in a Hole. Although my friend and I weren’t too impressed with the eclectic crowd (a woman was feeding her chihuahua at the table, using her fork!) it’s definitely a great stand-in when Essex or Schiller’s has too long of a wait.

If this becomes your brunch destination, though, it might be fun to dress the part. Oxfords, plaid, cardigans, you know the drill. London inspired fashions will make you feel the part. For inspiration, check out Henrik Vibskov, a Scandanavian designer recently featured in the NYTimes whose styles mix classic prints with color, pomp and avant garde chic.
