What is classic? Classic beauty, fashion, design, music or architecture? It is that which stands the test of time, defies passing trends and works in any setting. It can also be the unexpected and new classics are born every day.

The navy dress above and the ensemble below are from the Spring 2010 couture collection of a fabulous young Parisian designer by the name of Alexis Mabille. Modern, fresh and timeless. The sofa is from 1957 and designed by Edward Wormley. Looks as good today as it did back then.

Personally for me I believe French and Americans epitomise and worship classic design more than any other culture. However in this case the chandelier is Italian and the parchment covered sideboard is by Aldo Turo from the 1950’s. I picked it because it reminded me of Tommy Parzinger. Once again the gorgeous lace pants and top are from the couture collection of Alexis Mabille.
