Carl Aubock
I love Carl Aubock. He was an Austrian designer who specialized in handcrafted household items. Even if you do not know his name if you like design you will recognise his work. I am most intrigued by these little brass ashtrays that are quite common from him. The one shown above is designed to sit in the palm of your hand with the ‘feet’ settled between fingers.
Today there is no market for antique ashtrays so their use has to be recycled to have any value. These ones happen to have such a unique look that they are very appealing and make great gifts. My husband uses his to hold cuff links on his bedside table.
